With the cricket season due to start in just over 2 months Grappenhall Cricket Club start their preparations with our senior winter nets starting at the beginning of February. 2017 is an exciting year for the club as we look to build on the success of the last 12 months. With the new leadership of the club having made a number of changes 2016 saw a great season both on and off the pitch. The club expects that to go from strength to strength this year with a great atmosphere and team spirit running right through the club.
On the playing side its as you were with all 3 senior captains remaining in post with Adam Roylance, Jack Critchley and David Seed leading the 1's, 2's and 3's respectively. After last years promotion back to the Prem, the 1's will be looking to keep their place at the top table this season and hope to build on recent good cup runs. Last seasons playing staff remains pretty much in tact with the addition of local lads Luke McCoy and Adam Green. Luke moves back to the club from Sale having spent a number of years as a Grappers lad, and Adam Green moves from local rivals Warrington. Both players will provide competition for places in the 1st XI batting line up.
The season kicks off on Saturday 22nd April with the 1's with a real tough test away to Premier League Champions Alderley Edge.
With a thriving junior section providing the foundation for future success, Grappenhall CC promises to be an exiting place to be over the next few years. We have 3 senior teams, an over 40's team and junior teams from Under 7’s to Under 18’s all competing in 2017, so there is plenty of cricket to be played, and any prospective new players are welcome to join the club to help us achieve our aims.
